I've leveled half a dozen other skills up to 50 (fire, ice, hammer, necro, sword, psych.), none come close to bard. The key is to get as many damage song mods on your gear as you can. Damage song plays in the background with your lute while you use the other direct damage skills to finish strong targets. If you play it right though, this is a strong damage Bard build. I don't suggest damage support bard, the items are too much and without the CS you're not going to keep up in items to make your damage relevant unless you're taking every kill bot lane.
